Trillium Lake Calendar Page

Resuming my pages for my 2017 Calendar with our trip to Trillium Lake in the Mt Hood National Forest in Oregon. Such a breathtaking backdrop! We hiked around the lake that day...gorgeous day for a hike!

I didn't have any trillium flowers in my digital stash...which would have been so much more appropriate than these flowers that I placed on my page. But, I love the look and coordination with the big picture that they provide. As you can see... I added a second text box for 'Lake' with white underneath the brown, so that it would stand out more (it tended to just blend in with the background).

Thanks for taking a peek!

Supplies Used:
My Memories Suite digital software
Background - Campfire Stories (MagsGfx)
Embellishments - Winter Blue (Dillie) - Flowers and Leaves; Walk In The Park (Stampin' Up!) - Leaf Border (recolored white)
Punch - Square (filled w/brown)
Font - Rockwell Extra Bold (white); At Mahogany Script (brown and white)

Birthday in the Meadow

I don't usually create scenes on my cards, but with this stamp set... I just had to give it a try. My final card turned out fabulous (In my opinion... LOL!)... but the work that I had to do to get there...whew!

Coloring in the scene took a bit of time to get it right. I first tried using just the blender pen.... but the "water" just didn't flow very well on the paper. I finally ended up using the aqua painter to achieve the results you see here along with the blender pen.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamp sets - In The Meadow, Birthday Blossoms
Ink - Soft Suede, Soft Sky, Pear Pizzazz, Smoky Slate
Paper - Soft Suede, Soft Sky, Whisper White
Accessories - Blender Pen, Aqua Painter, Banners Framelits, Big Shot

Bandon Oregon

Mike and I took a short trip to the coast to celebrate my birthday back in March 2016... here is a calendar page to showcase our trip. This one will be for the month of March...as we took this trip in March....it seemed very fitting.

Just a note on how I got the yellow rope to go in front and behind the anchor on the page. I cropped part of the it - below the knot, so that part would be positioned in front of the anchor. Then I cropped the bow part out to just show the swirly rope part... this I placed behind the anchor. If you look closely, near the bottom of the circle of the anchor, you can see a slight shift in the rope... that's where I cropped both images and placed them together.

Thanks so much for taking a look!

Supplies Used:
My Memories Suite
Background - End of Summer (Valerie)
Embellishments - Summer Vacation (LinJane) - scallop border, rope jetty, yellow rope; Beach (DDND) - button; Anchor Away Mini (Kapi) - Anchor
Punch - Flag (white)
Font - Beach (colored to match background)

Oregon Gardens

Continuing my work on our 2017 Calendar with our trip that we took to the Oregon Gardens in May 2016. Since this is my second page for my calendar.... this one will be for the month of February.
Now, with that said, I wanted to incorporate some hearts and pink onto my page even though the photos were all green and earthy colors. I really like the pop of pink on this page!

I chose a gravel background as that was what all the pathways were made out of around the gardens. The background wasn't dark enough, so I re-colored it darker to match the gravel in my photo. Clever - huh?

The word 'Oregon' was created using the Timeless Type Junior Letters from Stampin' Up! I added each letter, positioned and aligned them...then grouped them together, so that I could size those letters down proportionally.

Thanks for stopping by for a look!

Supplies Used:
My Memories Suite digital software
Background - Campfire Stories (Mags Gfx) - recolored a dark gray
Embellishments - Love Blooms Eternal (MyCfts) - Heart Bunch; Love (Lpritchett) - Flowers; It's the Little Things (wendyp) - Flowers
Punches - Timeless Type Junior Letters (Stampin' Up!) colored white
Font - Brannball Small (black); Cerebral (white)

Cupcakes

I decided to play with the Sprinkles of Life stamp set along with a layout I found on Pinterest. For each card base I used 4.25x8.5...and folded in half (this way I could wrap the ribbon around the card with the ends falling behind the Deco Labels Framelits.

I embossed only the top portion of the card base with the Decorative Dots TIEF (Texture Impressions Embossing Folder), and then placed a piece of black or pink piece to the bottom portion of the base. I then wrapped the ribbon around the seam of the papers -- leaving the ends in the front, so that the framelit shape would cover the ends.

I die-cut the Deco Labels Framelits and stamped the bottom portion of the cupcake directly on the piece along with the sentiment. I attached the framelit to the card base.

I stamped the top portion of the cupcake onto colored cardstock and used the Tree Builder Punch to punch out the frosting. I used dimensionals to attach the frosting to the cupcake to make it pop.

I added the rhinestones to the sides...as I felt that the label was too plain.... now I'm thinking the label is too big. What are your thoughts?

Thanks for taking a peek!

Supplies Used
Stamp sets - Sprinkles of Life
Ink - Memento
Paper - Real Red, Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, So Saffron, Whisper White

Aquarium Calendar Page

Well, it's been a very long time since I created a scrapbook page, so today was the day to get to work scrapping again (oh I've made a ton of cards...but just haven't been scrapping lately). It felt great to get back into the swing of things with my first page for my 2017 Calendar.  The pages will showcase all the places/things that my husband and I have gone/done in 2016.

Now, I am scrapping with My Memories Suite...and I did just upgrade to the new Windows 10 on my Windows 7 computer... so I had a hard time locating my Pictures on my computer through My Memories. Luckily I found them before getting too frustrated. LOL!

I saw this layout from JCDesigns on their website, and wanted to try working with it. Now I didn't add journaling to my page as it is going to be a Calendar page instead of a scrap book page.  When I get around to creating my scrapbook for 2016... I'll do the journaling then.

Phrase Flourish

In need of a "Get Well" card... I made several to have on hand should I need some in the future. Sometimes it's hard to come up with a design on such short notice -- does that ever happen to you?  I got some inspiration from Pinterest using the 'Flourishing Phrases' stamp set from Stampin' Up! I decided not to use the matching framelits on these cards... just wanted to use the stamp set.

I wanted to incorporate the matching DSP for the 3 new In-Color that I used... Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum.  I'm loving that Sweet Sugarplum color!

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Supplies Used:
Stamp Set - Flourishing Phrases
Ink - Versamark
Paper - Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugarplum, Peekaboo Peach, Whisper White
Accessories - White Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, Circles Collection Framelits, Big Shot

Tin Meadows

My sister and her family live in Colorado....where they can see the mountains out their back window/balcony. As it is my brother-in-law's birthday... I felt a card that showcased the mountains would be perfect for him.

Now, I do have to say that this is my third attempt at coloring in the images. I first tried a blender pen...not so good with a large expanse to color. Next, I tried a brayer.... ugh...the colors were too dark. Finally, with the one shown, I used an AquaPainter. I wish there was something that easily colored large areas without showing brush strokes.  Maybe it's just the operator and I don't know the correct technique with blender pens and brayers.  Anyways.... I'm happy with my results with the AquaPainter that I don't have to do attempt #4. LOL!

I colored the "flowers" and tips of the mountain with a white colored pencil then added Wink of Stella to them.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamp Sets - In The Meadow, Tin of Cards
Ink - So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake, Memento
Paper - Pear Pizzazz, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, So Saffron DSP

Swirly Sailing

I wasn't sure I'd like the stamp set -- Swirly Birds, but wanted to get the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits.... and thought that getting the bundle would be a great deal! This is the first card I created with both the stamp set and thinlits! I was so happy with the results.  (Well, except for my over inked red stamp pad that was a little too juicy for my sentiment piece. LOL!).

I used the thinlits for the sun and waves... using the negative pieces for the lighter colors. Creating the ship was kinda cute with all the different stamps to choose from. (There are some stamps I have yet to figure out what they are for, though).  I cut out the boat with scissors.

For the sentiment I used the words from the Birthday Banners set. I decided to make it curved, so that it would flow with the wave thinlit.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Supplies Used:
Stamp Sets - Swirly Birds, Birthday Banner
Ink - Real Red, Dapper Denim, Chocolate Chip
Paper - Dapper Denim, Real Red, Pool Party, Whisper White, Crushed Curry
Accessories - Big Shot, Precision Plate, Die Brush, scissors, Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, dimensionals

Botanicals

Many Layers and NO stamp sets or Ink!  Well, the inside has the inked sentiment. LOL!

I just about fell in love with Narelle Farrugia's card that I saw on Pinterest and wanted to try recreating it using the supplies I had... I didn't use her colors, but I so loved the layout I had to make two! Thanks Narelle!

Here is her card:

As you can see I didn't add the sentiment to the front of my cards.... the sentiment is in the inside of the card (a Thank You and a Birthday sentiment).

Thanks for taking a peek!

Supplies Used:
Paper - Tangerine Tango, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Basic Black, Tangerine Tango DSP, Rich Razzelberry DSP
Accessories - Big Shot, Precision Plate, Botanical Builder Framelits, rhinestones, glue dots

Vintage Banner

I CASEd a card from Kylie Bertucci that I found on Pinterest. Thanks Kylie for creating such a lovely card. I changed mine just a bit to make it my own.

Supplies Used:
Stamp Sets - Vintage Leaves, Thoughtful Banners
Ink - Dapper Denim, Smoky Slate, Memento
Paper - Basic Black, Whisper White, Dapper Denim
Accessories - Big Shot, Leaflets Framelits, scissors, glue dots, Duet Banner Punch

Butterflies

With most card designs I create, I have a thought in my head (from either a layout or stamp set that I've seen online).... and I try to make something work with what I have. I saw a pretty card that had a die-cut heart with the cardstock color behind....so I felt it would work beautifully with my Butterflies Thinlits.

I started with a piece of white cardstock 3.5x4.75, and die-cut the butterfly in the top portion. I adhered the white cardstock (negative) to the colored cardstock 3.75x5. Then used the sticky tape to adhere only the middle section of the butterfly back within the die-cut piece.

I stamped the sentiment (Tin of Cards) to match the colored cardstock.

I created a bow at the end of my ribbon and instead of cutting off the bottom part of the bow on one side.... I used that piece to wrap around the edge of the focal piece.

I finished the card by adhering it to a thick white cardstock base.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamp sets - Tin of Cards
Ink - Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie
Paper - Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White

Vintage Pair

I wanted to work with the Little Letters Thinlits Dies that I had, so I paired it with "Perfect Pairings" stamp set (ha... did you see what I did there!). I felt that the result was a bit too plain for my card, so I added a "Vintage Leaves" stamp.

I used the Designer Series Paper (DSP) called "It's My Party" and I aligned the letters on the DSP so that all the little arrows were pointing down. It helps when you use the Magnetic Platform in the Big Shot!

Since the stamp within the "Perfect Pairings" stamp set had 'Happy Birthday', I used a marker to only color in 'Birthday'.

Thanks for taking a look!

Supplies Used:
Stamp Sets - Vintage Leaves, Perfect Pairings
Ink - Memento
Paper - Delightful Dijon, It's My Party DSP
Accessories - Big Shot, Magnetic Platform, Little Letters Thinlits, Leaflets Framelits, White Baker's Twine, glue dots

18 Milestone

I liked the general layout of Michelle Last's card that I found on Pinterest.  However.... I needed a masculine card for my nephew who is turning 18! Thanks for your layout inspiration Michelle!

I stamped the leaves twice behind the numbers to give it a fuller look.  I decided not to use the banner stamp that was included with the Number of Years Stamp set.... I used the Bloomin' Love stamp set instead.  I felt that the leaves on the sides of the banner went along better with the leaves in the background.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Supplies Used:
Stamp Set - Number of Years, Bloomin' Love
Ink - Mossy Meadow, Crumb Cake
Paper - Mossy Meadow, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Accessories - Big Shot, Large Numbers Framelits, glue dots, dimensionals

Ink - Night of Navy
Paper - Whisper White, Night of Navy
Accessories - Rose Garden Thinlits, Big Shot, Precision Plate, Die-Brush, Delightful Dijon Dotted Lace Trim, dmensionals

You Wonder

As I get older.... I find that I'm in need of more and more of these cards. Life... you are here but a moment in time -- it's what you do during that time, to bring joy to other's, that makes life so much more enjoyable and happy. Take a moment to feel the blessings of each and every one who has touched your life (big or small) today!

In this card, I made the stems on the lilies longer by turning the stamp upside down and stamping just the stems on the bottom portion of the card. I then attached the ribbon to hide the parts that don't quite match up!

I used the AquaPainter to add subtle color to the flowers.

Thanks for stopping by!
Supplies Used:
Stamp Sets - Remarkable You, Rose Wonder
Ink - Memento, Pear Pizzazz, Smoky Slate, So Saffron
Paper - Whisper White, Basic Black
