Memorial Park - MDSM115

This week will be the last week to play along with the MDS Monday Blog Challenges. So sad to not have this wonderful blog to go to anymore, as it has inspired me to create so many beautiful pages. Thanks ladies for everything you have done for me!
This last challenge can be found here:

This challenge wanted us to use our favorite MDS downloads, and to explain why they are our favorite.  Well, I have many favorites... as I have many, many downloads! lol! BUT, I did narrow it down to just one favorite here!  Through the years of creating scrapbooks, I've found that I love the look of my pages when I add overlays.  It's just a simple stamp, but it enhances the page with so much character.  With this page, I chose to use an overlay from the "Decorative Overlays' set.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamp Set - Decorative Overlays
Embellishments - Stitching (Whisper White)
Punch - Square (filled w/Night of Navy Textured Cardstock, Whisper White); Star (Whisper White)
Font - Steamer (Whisper White); Pageant (Real Red)

Iris Gardens - MDSM114

Cindy has a lovely sketch on MDS Monday this week. You may view the challenge on the MDS Monday Blog here: http://mdsmonday.blogspot.com/2015/05/mdsm-114-amazing-ride.html

Since we just went to the Schreiner's Iris Gardens in Salem, OR... It was great to get our photos scrapped.  Although, I will need more pages... as there were so many different varieties and colors of Irises.  Such a beautiful display!

I wanted to let my photos speak more than the page details, so I choice neutral colors - Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla.

Thanks for stopping by!
Supplies Used:
Background - Sahara Sand
Punch - Square (filled w/Very Vanilla)
Stamp Brush Set - Twitterpated (Honeycomb - Sahara Sand); Earth Laughs (flower - Sahara Sand); Glimmer Kit (banner - Sahara Sand); Banner Blast (small flower - Whisper White); All Time Fav (dots - cropped Basic Black)
Embellishments - Basic Pearls (recolored More Mustard)
Font - Lover's Quarrel and Freehand 951 (Basic Black)

Tulips - MDSM113

MDS Monday (Beth) has another wonderful sketch this week.  You may view the sketch and all the pages created with it here:  http://mdsmonday.blogspot.com/2015/05/mdsm-113-visual-interest.html
Beth wanted us to use something other than splatter for the background visual interest.  I chose to use the rain stamp from Everyday Adventure PL kit in Island Indigo and Whisper White.  The white I reduced the opacity so it was a bit translucent on the page.  The title and the criss-cross (or diamond) layer on the green piece are also stamps from the Everyday Adventure PL kit.

I wanted to create a companion page to go with last weeks page I completed for the tulip festival. Since the first page didn't include any tulips.... this page only contains tulips!!

Thanks for looking!

Supplies:
Background - Pool Party
Embellishments - Ruffled Ribbon (Island Indigo); Eyelet (Garden Green)
Stamp Brush Sets - Everyday Adventure PL kit (rain - Island Indigo and Whisper White at 80% opacity; title words - Island Indigo; diamonds background - Whisper White); Our Happy (tulip - Gumball Green, Perfect Plum, Real Red, Summer Sun)
Punches - Square (filled w/Textured Island Indigo, Gumball Green and Whisper White); Tag (Whisper White)
Font - CK Honey

Happy Camper - MDSM112

Anita has a great sketch over at MDS Monday this week MDSM112. Here is the link to the challenge:

She wanted us to focus on just one photo and fill the other boxes with Project Life cards or designer series paper.  I took her advice and filled them with Project Life cards from the 'Happiness Is' kit.

I also took advantage of the sale (30% off) of all the My Digital Studio downloads, and bought the Happy Camper Memories download -- which is featured here.

Thanks for taking a look!

Supplies Used:
Background - Going Gray
Embellishments - Happiness Is Project Life (cards)
Stamp Brush Set - Happy Camper Memories (boots, title - Early Espresso and words - Elegant Eggplant); Splatter - Soft Suede
Font - Comic Sans (Early Espresso)

Woodburn

It's Monday again, and MDS Monday has a new sketch challenge posted.  Jeanna provided this week's sketch.  You may view their blog along with all the lovely pages created by the design team here: http://mdsmonday.blogspot.com/2015/04/mdsm-111-cute-done.html

Well, as I see here I didn't put my title in the correct spot, but I did use the 'Everyday Adventure Project Life digital download throughout this page.  I added tulips from the 'Handpicked for Mom' and the washi tape from the 'Delightful Digital Tape' digital downloads.

One thing I'd like to point out is that I used a Project Life pocket card for the background.  I encompassed the whole background with a photo box and just dragged my card in the box.  It did give me an error saying it may pixelate, but when printed I do not see any pixelation.  The pocket card looked like rows of tulips -- I felt it was perfect for the background! =)

I realize that there are no photos of the beautiful rows of tulip fields on my page -- I'll need to create another page for that, but wanted to showcase us being silly at the festival! We are too cute!

Oh wait!  Here's a lovely photo of the tulip fields for you to see now:

Thanks for stopping by!
Supplies Used:
Background - Everyday Adventure Project Life pocket card
Stamp Brush Set - Everyday Adventure Project Life (word 'LOVE', sayings, flag w/words, camera); Handpicked for Mom - Tulip (colored Old Olive, Tangelo Twist and Summer Sun)
Embellishments - Everyday Adventure Project Life pocket cards; Delightful Digital Tape (recolored Old Olive and Tangelo Twist)
Punch - Square (filled w/Whisper White)
Font - Bobo and Adorable (Basic Black)

Raven Falls

Playing with another sketch challenge on MDS Monday Blog (MDSM110).  You may view the challenge here:

With this challenge, Yapha wanted us to use papers at angles and to anchor those papers with a tie or bow. Thanks Yapha!

I wasn't too sure of what photo I would use for this, but I found one of my husband when he was in South Carolina hiking in Caesar's Head State Park with Raven Cliff Falls in the background. I knew I wanted to use green on my page, so I chose to scroll through the color combo choices within MDS. The combo I used is: Always Artichoke, Old Olive, Summer Sun, Pool Party and Soft Suede.

After choosing the colors -- my page came together quickly...except for the tie/bow/anchor choice. It took me awhile, but I did find the Summer Starfruit twine (I know it's not Summer Sun, but it's close! lol).

I used the coloring tool to color the 'Inspired by Nature' stamp. I used the 'Decorative Overlay' stamp (flowers) twice on this page.  One for the background -- kinda looks like clouds to me (rotated 90 to the right) ; and one for the paper behind the photo.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Embellishments - Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack (Summer Starfruit thread and bow)
Stamp Brush Sets - Inspired by Nature (flower - Summer Sun, Soft Suede and Old Olive; grass - Always Artichoke); Decorative Overlays (Pool Party and Always Artichoke)
Punches - Square (filled w/Soft Suede DSP; Summer Sun and Whisper White)
Font - Teen Scene (Summer Sun and Soft Suede)

The Malcor Family - MDSM109

The MDS Monday Blog (really Heidi) has a new sketch for us today MDSM109.  You may view all the great pages created by the design team here:

I used photos that were taken of our "Malcor Family" photo shoot in California in Dec 2014.  I had a hard time figuring out what papers to use... as each photo had different colors in them (and my brother-in-law's family all had bright red scarves on). After spending a lot of time changing out papers... I said why don't I just change the photos to black and white! Whew! After that things went a whole lot easier. LOL!

I used photo boxes for each square, and the boxes that do not have photos in them -- I used the 'Love Story Project Life cards'.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Background - Whisper White
Stamp Brush Set - Vintage Overlays (Basic Gray)
Embellishments - Love Story cards and leaf (Basic Black at 30% opacity)
Punch - Square (filled w/Basic Gray)
Font - Pristina (Basic Black)

Oregon Aquarium - MDSM108

Tami has a wonderful sketch for us over at MDS Monday.  You may view the challenge along with all the pages created by the talented and lovely ladies of the design team here:  http://mdsmonday.blogspot.com/2015/04/mdsm-108-focus-on-journaling.html

I knew immediately which photos to scrap for this page.... our trip to the Oregon Coast and to the aquarium....as we took so many photos. We had a good time with my brother who came out to visit our new home and to spend a few days with us.

A few things to note: when creating the color for the Title word 'Aquarium', I used the 'picker tool' within MDS to select the color inside the Island Indigo Patterns DSP.  I used a text box filled with a period to create the dots on the starfish. I outlined the starfish by adding a slightly bigger starfish behind it in Basic Black.

I was so happy when I found the shark and the helm stamp, as I wasn't sure what kind of elements to use on my page. The page looked so plain without that subtle helm stamp in the background... and who doesn't use a shark stamp on an aquarium page. LOL! Glad I searched my stash!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Background - Island Indigo
Stamp Brush Sets - Anchors Away (helm - Basic Black at 20% opacity; shark - Basic Black; starfish - Basic Black and lighter shade of Island Indigo)
Punch - Square (filled w/Island Indigo DSP, Basic Black DSP and Basic Black)
Font - Aurora BT (Basic Black); Bow (lighter shade of Island Indigo); Beach (Basic Black)

South Falls -MDS107

I decided to play with the sketch this week on MDS Monday.  You may view the challenge on their blog here: http://mdsmonday.blogspot.com/2015/03/mdsm-107-journaling-with-freeform.html  Cindy has a great sketch - and - such a cool technique to create shaped journaling.

I, too, used the Freeform Tool to create a box. As I am not well versed with this "tool" it took some trial and error to first get a box, and then to have my text go the 'right' way on the box. (The first time I created a box -- the words, when attached, went counter clockwise and inside the box. The second time I created a box -- the words, when attached went clockwise and were outside the box). <--- Interesting - Huh! You learn something new (at least I did) everyday!
Thanks Cindy for the challenge!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Background - Old Olive
Embellishments - Basic Pearls; Basic Gray Grosgrain Ribbon; Feast of Thanks (leaf); Walk in the Park II (leaf border - recolored Sahara Sand); Dahlias
Punch - Square (filled w/Basic Gray DSP and Basic Gray); Eyelet Border (Sahara Sand)
Freeform Tool (created a line box for the journaling to follow path)
Font - Lover's Quarrel and Boho (Whisper White)

Birthday 44 - MDSM106

So, my birthday was yesterday! As I am an identical twin... my sister, Debbie shares this special day with me.  I miss those special years of celebrating that day together.

And YES! The title is correct - I am 44! I am forever reminded of that Ickey Woods TV commercial -- where he's in the deli and they call number 44.... and he shouts "whoo number 44, that's me!"  <---Well, that's me! lol!

My husband brought me tulips and we tried a new bakery (Nothing Bundt Cakes). Wow! They were delicious.  We had the Carrot Cake and the White Chocolate Raspberry -- both had cream cheese frosting. YUM!

I used the sketch found on the MDS Monday Blog.  Thanks Beth! You may view the sketch challenge here:
 MDS Monday - MDSM106

Oh Wait, here's the sketch:

I realize after I created it that I chose spring-like colors.  For those that remember... the previous MDS Monday Challenge and sketch called for a spring page...and I didn't follow that.  Well... I must have felt guilty...so here's my spring page Anita! LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Background - Pear Pizzazz
Stamp Brush Set - Decorative Overlays (Whisper White); Enjoy Every Moment (dotted circle - Whisper White); Beautiful Birthday (words - Pear Pizzazz); Handpicked for Mom (tulip - Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White)
Punch - Square (filled w/Pink Pirouette DSP)
Embellishments - Poly Stitched Ribbon (bow cropped); Soft Blooms and Festive Blooms(flowers); Twitterpated (buttons - Pear Pizzazz)
Font - CK Jot (Pear Pizzazz)

Beach Fun - MDSM105

I'm playing with the sketch challenge on MDS Monday today. You may view the challenge here:

Anita asked us to follow the sketch, as well as to make it a spring-like theme with flowers or plants. Well, my page is more summery than spring-like.... hope that's ok.  It does have flowers and plants! =)

I decided to group my photos together to create one great photo.  My husband and I love this photo... we were certainly not expecting the big wave when this photo was taken.  It almost took out our camera too, but luckily the camera was on a high enough rock -- everything was ok! lol

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Background - Crumb Cake
Embellishments - Paradise Found (flowers)
Stamp Brush Set - Paradise Found (leaves - Lucky Limeade; palm tree - Close to Cocoa and Lucky Limeade; words - Whisper White, Pool Party and Calypso Coral); Natural Compositions Overlay (Sahara Sand)
Punch - Square (filled w/Close to Cocoa and Paradise Found DSP #1)

Forever Love - MDSM104

I was a little bit intimidated by the sketch challenge found on the MDS Monday blog this week. Not sure why... maybe it was all those boxes with paper rather than photo boxes.  Well, getting out of my comfort zone it good - right!  YES! The more I worked with this sketch...the more I felt comfortable with it.  Thanks Jeanna!

What worked perfectly with this sketch were the Project Life cards... each box (excluding the photo) is a Project Life card! The digital download kit that I used for this is the 'Love Story Project Life' kit, and most all the stamps are from that kit too (excluding the background overlay stamp).

A few details I'd like to point out. I layered a punched heart on top of the black heart in the upper-left Project Life card.  With the bottom-middle Project Life card... I added a stamp heart (the card had the same heart, but in black), I used an 2 arrow stamps and cropped them to make them look like it was going through the heart, and I added the word stamps 'Love' and 'Always'.

The photo is a picture of Mike's parents.  Back in December 2014, his Mom got the whole Malcor family together to take family photos.  I absolutely love this photo of them.  I changed the photo to black & white to keep the colors on my page Red/Black/White combination.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Background - Raspberry Ripple
Embellishments - Love Story Project Life kit (3 3x4 cards and 1 4x6 card); Staples
Punch - Heart (Raspberry Ripple); Flag (Basic Black); Square (Raspberry Ripple)
Stamp Brush Set - Decorative Overlays (Basic Black at 30% opacity); Love Story (arrow - Basic Black; hearts and heart string - Basic Black and Raspberry Ripple; words 'love' and 'always' -Raspberry Ripple)
Font - Adorable (Whisper White)

Rainbow State - MDSM103

Playing along with the MDS Monday Blog Challenge (MDSM103), with Yapha's and Tami's great sketch.  I had these beautiful photos of Hawaiian rainbow's that I wanted to scrap, and their sketch really provided a great layout! Thanks Yapha and Tami!

At first I started out with a yellow/blue background, but that didn't draw out my photos at all. Then, a lightbulb went off... why not use Red, Orange, Yellow (and the photo provides the Green, Blue and sort of Purple. LOL!).  I finished off my page with Sunshine and Sprinkles embellishments, as well as Marina Mist ribbon and brads.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Background - Real Red
Punch - Square (filled w/Pumpkin Pie DSP, Daffodil Delight Textured Cardstock)
Embellishments - Sunshine and Sprinkles (sun and rainbow); Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (Marina Mist); Flower Brads (Marina Mist)

Thanksgiving - MDSM92

Working on another page for our 2015 Calendar with 'Places we've been in 2014'.  Here was our trip to Cleveland to visit family. We stayed at my brother's house.  One of the many things we love about staying at his house is that he has a fabulous fireplace.  The weather cooperated and was very cold many days, so a fire was lit almost everyday of our visit!  We are so thankful for family AND for the many opportunities that we have to visit!

I created this page using only part of a double-page spread that I saw on the MDS Monday blog.  You may view their challenge here:

I may use the other sketch on a different scrapbook page, but that will be completed on a different day. =)

Supplies Used:
Background - Early Espresso
Punch - Square (filled w/Feast of Thanks #6, #7 and #8)
Stamp Brush Set - Love Story (heart strings)

Maui - MDSM87

Just got back from our Hawaii vacation, and wanted to use one of our photos from our trip for the MDS Monday Blog Sketch this week.  You may view the challenge and all the lovely pages from this sketch here: http://mdsmonday.blogspot.com/2014/10/mdsm87-yaphas-first-sketch.html

This one was a huge challenge for me, as I chose to make all the boxes photo boxes, and when you add DSP to photo boxes....the DSP is really tiny, so you need to zoom out in all of them.  The reason I chose to do all photo boxes instead of a mix of photo boxes and rounded punches -- was the roundedness of the photo boxes were not in uniform with the rounded punch shape.  I mean.... I guess you couldn't really tell that huge of a difference between the two, but I wasn't happy with it.  So, making them all photo boxes worked well for my purposes! =)

In placing the photo within several photo boxes, I grouped those photo boxes together before placing my photo within those boxes.

Thanks for looking!

Supplies Used:
Background Paper - Crumb Cake
Embellishments - Timeless Taffeta Trimmings (bow - Not Quite Navy); Dahlias (Crumb Cake)
Stamp Brush Set - Natural Composition Overlays (Sahara Sand)
Punch - Rounded Corner (Whisper White)
Photo Boxes - Watercolor Wonder DSP #11 recolored Midnight Muse and #12
Font - Formal (Whisper White); CK Cutie (Not Quite Navy)
