Veterans Day 2024

 

I went with a "simple" design for this Veterans Day card! Although... there was nothing simple about cutting out all the "stripes" and stars and trying to get them straight. LOL! 

I used the Designer Series Paper from 'Twinkle, Twinkle' DSP.

The sentiment is from the 'Changing Leaves' stamp set.

All the paper was die-cut using the 'Rectangle Stitched' dies. Although, the stars were from the 'Stitched Stars' set (non-SU).

I designed this card to compliment the decorative box I made for our gift to our niece on her Baptism.

The Cross is from the 'Special Blessings' Stamp set (retired) and the sentiment is from the 'Crosses of Hope' stamp set (also retired).

The DSP is from the SAB 2022 Promotion - Friendly Hello DSP.

My littlest niece, Emily Elizabeth Schwab, was born on 2/2/2022! She is a blessing to our family. We celebrated her Baptism recently.

I purchased a Baptism block... showcasing her name, the letter 'E', where and when she was baptized, and a lovely quote of Baptism.

2019 Veterans Day

On this special day, we Thank all Veterans who have served/are serving this great country! My husband and I did not serve, but we have family members who have, and we'd like to show our gratitude for the sacrifices that they have made for us to enjoy the freedoms that we share.

I designed the focal piece within my digital software, and printed it out on Whisper White cardstock.

For the background piece, I decided to create my own embossed background using the 'Stitched Star' dies. To do this, you need your star dies, a piece of cardstock (in my case, Crumb Cake), a Die-Cut/Emboss Machine and Embossing Mats. Create the sandwich within your machine this way: platform, silicone mat, cardstock, dies, Impressions mat.

Decorative Box

As of March 24, 2019, we gained a beautiful baby niece to add to our growing family! She is precious!

She will be Baptized on June 9, 2019. We wanted to give her something that she could remember the day. Pinterest to the rescue! We found this wonderful block - made of maple - that she can keep forever. Palmetto Wood Shop and Engraving did a beautiful job in creating a wooden block that she will cherish forever! Thank you! Now, upon delivery, the block was surrounded in yellow tissue paper, but not a box (just the shipping box). So, with my Envelope Punch Board from SU.... I made one to fit perfectly for the block.

I had to do some surfing to find the correct measurements for my box to be the right size. I stumbled upon the blog "The Crafty Owl" (Joanne). She provided a calculator (in inches AND centimeters, as she is from the UK) to create customizable boxes. All you need to enter are the dimensions that you need and it gives you the size paper to cut for the Envelope Punch Board and where to place your 1st and 2nd punch. In my case, I needed a box that was 2.25 inches square. I cut a piece of Petal Pink at 7.25 inches square. My first punch/score was at 2 inches and the second punch/score was at 5.25 inches. Utilizing the bone folder, I creased all the score lines and made the necessary folds for the corners.

As for decorating the sides of the box, I used the Layering Squares dies. The scallop edge with Whisper White cardstock, the square piece inside the scallop background is from 'Twinkle Twinkle DSP'.
