Mike and I celebrated Christmas early this year, and I wanted to capture it on a scrapbook page.

I used the 8x8 Sweet Pea Page Template, and just swapped out colors and embellishments to suit my needs.

Ship and Sun - MDSM003

There's a new challenge on the MDS Monday blog.  This one showcases a technique (photo filled grouped boxes) within a sketch challenge. What a great technique! You may view the challenge on their blog here: http://mdsmonday.blogspot.com/2012/12/mds3-its-technique-challenge.html

I had a hard time deciding which pictures to choose, since the photo box behind the grouped ones was behind it. (My husband helped!) =)

With the weather getting colder this time of the year, I wanted to be reminded of sand and sun!

Thanks for looking!

Background - Pool Party
Stamp Brush Sets - Vintage Overlays (sand-River Rock), Torn Edges (flourish - Island Indigo)
Embellishments - Simple Snapshots (flowers - one recolored Island Indigo), Staple and Stitching (Whisper White), Brads (River Rock- recolored Island Indigo), Painted Brad (Island Indigo)

Framelit Owl

I saw a similar owl made by Debbie Henderson, and it looked so cute.....had to make one of my own.

I used the Windows Collection Framelit (largest one) for the base. Used the Adorning Accent Edgelit for the feathers (9 layers). The Heart punch for the beak, and circle punches (non-SU) for the eyes.

Paper - Early Espresso, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight
Ink - Smooch Ink (White)
Accessories - Taffeta Ribbon (Daffodil Delight), Circle Punch, Heart Punch, Adorning Accents Edgelits, Windows Collection Framelits

Curly Flourishes

Creating a birthday card with a touch of elegance.  I just love the Adorning Accents Edgelit here!

At first I was using Very Vanilla with the Soft Suede, but I wanted to use the Raspberry Ripple ribbon.  So, changed it to be Whisper White cardstock.  I may just make another one with Very Vanilla ribbon and cardstock too! =)

Stamp sets - Flowering Flourishes, Curly Cute
Paper - Soft Suede, Whisper White, Raspberry Ripple
Ink - Soft Suede, Raspberry Ripple
Accessories - Satin Stitched Ribbon (Raspberry Ripple), Big Shot, Adorning Accents Edgelits, stamp-a-ma-jig

Birthday Banner

I wanted to use the new Ovals Collection Framelits (available in the Spring Catalog 2013 from Stampin' Up!).

This card came together so quickly too.

Stamp sets - Perfectly Penned
Paper - Basic Black, Whisper White, Basic Gray
Ink - Basic Black
Accessories - Big Shot, Houndstooth TIEF, Ovals Collection Framelits, Brads (Basic Gray), Bitty Banners Framelits, Glue Dots, Hole Punch

Bitty Honeycomb

I tried the new Honeycomb TIEF (Textured Impressions Embossing Folder) from Stampin' Up today (from the Spring 2013 Catalog).

I saw Ann Schach's version with cut-out Christmas DSP (designer series paper) within each honeycomb, and liked that look.  Thanks Ann for your inspiration!

However, when I tried to cut-out the hexagons to fit inside the honeycomb... it didn't turn out so great.  So, I decided to create a mask (out of post-it notes) and with a sponge dauber.... colored in the inside of the honeycomb.

Stamp set - Itty Bitty Banners
Paper - Sage Shadow, Soft Suede, Whisper White
Ink - Sage Shadow, Soft Suede, More Mustard, Wild Wasabi
Accessories - Big Shot, Honeycomb TIEF, Bitty Banners Framelits, dimensionals

Garden Street- SCCSC149

Just had to start playing with some new Stampin' Up goodies today (from the Spring and Sale-a-bration Catalogs 2013). FUN!  Customers will need to wait until Jan 3rd to order from the Spring Catalog and until Jan 22nd for the Sale-a-bration Catalog (but demos can get them now!).

I used the Stampin' Connection Sketch Card Challenge (SCCSC149) for inspiration.

Stamp Sets- Itty Bitty Banners, Secret Garden

Ink - Baja Breeze, Calypso Coral, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight

Flourishing Wings - SCCSC148

Creating more Thank you cards, and I thought I'd try to use some items from Stampin' Up that I haven't used yet.
I stamped the Flowering Flourishes with the Illuminate Glimmer Watermark ink on the Basic Gray Cardstock. I wasn't sure I like the look of it, but it'll grow on me (I think!). <---I'm sure it looks better if I would have stamped a color first, then placed the glimmer over it.

I used the Stampin Connection Card Sketch Challenge (SCCSC148) for my design.... just changed the layout a bit to make it my own.

Stamp Sets - Flowering Flourishes, Itty Bitty Banners
Paper - Primrose Petals, Basic Gray, Whisper White
Ink - Primrose Petals, Illuminate Glimmer Watermark
Accessories - Big Shot, Bitty Banners Framelits, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Beautiful Wings Embosslits, Basic Rhinestones, Glue Dots

Thankful Flourishes - SCCSC147

You can never have too many Thank-you cards, especially during the holidays!  I used the Stampin Connection Card Sketch Challenge (SCCSC147) for inspiration on my card.  The bow is a bit bulky, so I may just hand deliver it, as it'll be difficult to place in the mail without added stamps.

I heat embossed the sentiment piece with White embossing powder.

Stamp Sets - Flowering Flourishes, Trust God
Paper - Raspberry Ripple, Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink - Raspberry Ripple, Versamark
Accessories - White Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Embossing Buddy, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Hole Punch, Satin Ribbon (Basic Black), Glue Dot, dimensionals, scissors

Little River Zoo - DGSC090

Working on my scrapbook (July 2010), and trying to catch up on some challenges on Splitcoaststampers.  This challenge DGSC090 - Recipe for Holiday Ads was to create a page like the Ad above, using these these features:
  1. Your choice of colors and theme!
  2. Try to use five photos (but you can use less/more if you want.)
  3. Give your page an old fashioned or vintage look.
  4. Your journaling block is on the left side.
  5. Begin your Title with a flourish behind just one letter
  6. Add a background layer that is even with your journaling block & title at the top.
  7. Add second journaling block that goes across the bottom to the right side
  8. Finish the lower right corner of your page with a fancy embellishment accent.
You may view the challenge here:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/digital-scrapbooking-f253/dgsc090-recipe-holiday-ads-11-20-12-a-t564684.html

Space Center - DGSC089

Continuing with my 2010 scrapbook.....I will get this finished.....eventually! HA!  I would really like to get this finished by the end of the year, but not sure that it's a possibility.... I'm still working on June 2010! I am plugging away though, and My Digital Studio makes it so much easier to design the pages.
In June 2010, we were in Houston, so on one weekend day....we took a drive to the Space Center in Houston.  It was such an amazing place, so fantastic to see all the rockets and artifacts on display.

I used the Splitcoaststampers Digi-Scrap Challenge - Going in Circles DGSC089 for these pages (using circles).

On the design level, I used the overlay (Vintage Overlay #11), and while I was designing it -- it looks a bit different on the page than it does when transported as a .jpg file. It kinda looks more like space in the background now that's it's a .jpg file.  I hope when it's printed it will look like this! =)

Thanks for looking!

MDS Christmas Cards 2012

I created our Christmas Cards for this year in My Digital Studio.  It was very easy to just create one card and have them professionally printed by Stampin Up! (since I needed 70 cards).

All I can say is WOW! Fabulous!  I'm really happy with the results.  Thanks to My Digital Studio and Stampin' Up.... I am ready for the Christmas season! =)

I used the tri-fold card template in My Digital Studio.  It measures 3.5x5 (folded) and 3.5x15 (unfolded).  The ability to design both sides of the tri-fold card was what drew me to this card type, as I could place a photo and journaling, as a message of Christmas on the cards.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

Happy in Yellow

I saw a design in the PaperCrafts Card Creations vol. 10 magazine (different fonts, colors and ribbon), so I can't take total credit for this design.

I first tried to attempt this using stamps with my stamp-a-ma-jig.  Let's just say, it didn't work out so well (I'm a perfectionist, so the repeated word 'happy' wasn't as straight as I would like).

I used My Digital Studio to create the front panel. Using the 'Days in December' stamp brush set 'Happy Holidays' (but cropped it so only 'Happy' was shown).  I then copied and pasted it (5 in a row, top justified, and spaced evenly horizontally). Once the first row was completed, I grouped the row together and then just copied and pasted each row (staggering the words).  Afterward, I spaced evenly vertically.  I selected one 'Happy' and changed the color to Daffodil Delight.
I then added a text box for the word 'Birthday' (I used the Civilian font).

I printed the panel on Whisper White cardstock.

Stamp Brush Set - Days in December (word 'Happy' in Sahara Sand and Daffodil Delight)
Paper - Whisper White, Sahara Sand, Daffodil Delight
Ink - Sahara Sand, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black (all in MDS)
