Working again on our 2013 photobook with our Christmas photos.  We celebrated early at home since we knew we would be traveling to Ohio to celebrate Christmas with my family, as well as to celebrate the wedding of my little brother.  Family is so important....and life is way too short not to get together.

Another two-page spread complete in our 2013 photobook! YES!

I do have to admit that in creating these two pages.... it was very emotional for me (as my Mom passed away Feb 2014).  I miss her so very much!

I saw this sketch on the Splitcoaststampers website, and it intrigued me with all it's layers.  Now, I'm sure I didn't add as many layers as the sketch shows, but I didn't want my page elements to diminish the photos I wanted to showcase.

The name on .jpeg file is: "InstaMeWeekly1 - template3".

I did create my own Designer Series Paper to fill in the square punches.  It's relatively easy to do with My Digital Studio, and so very helpful when trying to match colors.  The DSP papers that I created are the Modern Medley white arrows on Lost Lagoon paper and the Wild Wasabi Happy Birthday text on Whisper White paper. To create your own DSP papers: 1) open a new 12x12 page; 2) add your background color; 3) add the stamp [ie:Modern Medley arrows in white]; 4) save file as a .jpeg on your desktop; 5) add this .jpeg file to the My Digital Studio software as a background [my computer/ program files/ My Digital Studio/ components/ backgrounds/ Designer Series Paper].

Virginia trip

 

Continuing work on our 2013 photobook..... still with our trip to Richmond Virginia.  There's so much to see here! We went to where the "White House" of the Confederacy was, and took a guided tour by one of the descendants of Jefferson Davis.  We also went to the museum which housed many artifacts from the Civil War.  From there, we walked to the State Capitol of Virginia.

Katie's Journal Cover

Several years ago, I had created a few journals for my nieces (now these were journals with traditional covers.... made with gluing on paper and embellishments).  My niece had asked me if I could make her a new journal.  I decided I'd like to utilize the journal option in the My Digital Studio software (Stampin' Up!).

Having to only design the front and back cover.... made it so much easier!  Stampin' Up!'s professional print services do all the rest with creating the journal for you! Yeah!

I got this lovely journal (soft bound) book in the mail, and was pleased with the Stampin' Up! Professional Print company.  I wanted to create a card to send along to my niece with her new journal, and wanted it to look a bit like her journal cover.

I believe it goes well with the journal, even though the flowers are different and the stripes are going in the opposite direction! (I just noticed that! lol!)

So-Cal Horse Show and Farm

 

Continuing work on our 2013 photobook with our trip to Southern California to visit Mike's family. His sister, Karen, and her husband, Michael, competed in the So-Cal Miniature Horse Show while we were there.  It was fun to see what they both enjoy.... Karen racing in the carriage race and Michael being the MC (the guy who announced the competitions and the winners).  Afterward, we took a tour of their farm, where they board horses -- both miniature and regular size; keep ducks, goats and dogs and cats....as well as parakeets and frogs. We had a great time!

Modern Party

Working within My Digital Studio, creating a card for my nephew.  This card came together quickly.....I used the Modern Medley DSP (arrows) in the background, added the stacked sentiment and finished it with a candle on top -- to resemble a birthday cake!

I printed it out on Whisper White cardstock and attached it to Bermuda Bay cardstock.

Lady of Lourdes

 

Continuing on with our 2012 photobook.... when we were in Cleveland in July 2012, we drove to the National Shrine there.  We lit a few candles, said a few prayers and touched the Holy Water provided from the spring.  It was interesting to see they had a huge walking 'Rosary' and stairs leading to "The Way of the Cross"(Stations of the Cross) outside.  It was a very peaceful place.

I chose to keep my colors Sahara Sand and Pretty in Pink with a touch of Primrose Petals.  I've recolored Designer Series Paper and embellishments to go along with my color scheme.

In February 2012, Mike and I went to California to visit family.  We spent a few days at Disneyland...and had a great time....even though it was a bit chilly.

Sorry I have been absent lately posting to my blog.  I took a trip to visit my Mom (and, of course, the rest of my folks in Cleveland!).  It was great seeing and spending time with them.

But, that means I now have to work extra hard now getting our 2014 calendar done before the end of the year. Eek!
