Triceratops Birthday

Again, I created a card utilizing my digital software (My Memories Suite). My sister LOVES triceratops, so when I found this digital image.... I just knew I had to incorporate this into a birthday card for her.

I added the grass, balloons and sentiment to finish off this piece, then printed it on Whisper White cardstock. Once printed... I matted it on So Saffron cardstock and then on Old Olive.

Thanks for stopping by!

Embellishments - DinoMini Sampler (Ostrea); Bring on the Balloons (MyMem); Candyland Grass (MyMem)

Happy Moments - MDSM82

I decided to play along with the MDS Monday Sketch Challenge this week (MDSM82).  Tara created this wonderful sketch, and asked us to use white/vanilla with a touch of one color.  You may view the challenge here:

I chose to Not Quite Navy as my touch of color.  The lovely patterned paper I used is from the Bella Bleu DSP set (Designer Series Paper #4).  I used the 'Rip Edges' tool on the photo with a Not Quite Navy mat.  The photo is of my parents enjoying the outdoors, sitting in their swing on their deck (taken in 2011). Hmmm.... I should probably add the date on my page - huh? LOL!

Thanks for taking a peek!

Supplies Used:
Background - Very Vanilla
Embellishments - Designer Rosettes (Very Vanilla); Basic Pearls; Timeless Taffeta Trimmings (bow - Not Quite Navy)
Stamp Brush Sets - Piece of Cake (circles - Not Quite Navy); Endless Birthday (word 'Happy' - Not Quite Navy); Greatest Moments (word 'Moments' - Not Quite Navy)
Punch - Square (filled w/ Bella Bleu DSP #4)

Two for the Price of One - MDSM62

I saw this cool sketch on MDS Monday's blog....and saved that sketch to my computer desktop to work on it this week.  Well, I got the time to create it ..... designed it.... and it looks amazing! So, today I went to add it to the MDS Monday's blog, and found out that I didn't read the whole challenge!  Oh well..... time to create again! LOL.  What's great is now I have two wonderful cards! Thanks MDS Monday!

So, if you'd like to view their challenge MDSM62 - click here: http://mdsmonday.blogspot.com/2014/04/mds62-were-matching.html  I've added the sketch here, so you can see it:

The challenge was to create a card with this sketch - AND - to add a DSP that you like and only use the 'matching tool' within MDS to fill in all the other elements on the card. Whew!  I do have to say that it was challenging to complete this task....since the DSP I chose 'Feast of Thanks' had variations within each small strip....as you can see with the striped paper above and below the 'Happy Birthday' piece.

I this card with the words 'Happy Birthday'.  It's from 'Delightful Dozen' and I cropped it to only get one 'Happy' and one 'Birthday' from it, so they show in a single line and not one on top of the other. After grouping them together, I copied and pasted them in rows.  I then added a square punch with my 'Feast of Thanks' striped DSP. I grouped those strips of DSP plus the sentiment together and rotated all of it -.8 degrees. After ungrouping all the elements, I was able to use the color matching tool within MDS to color in my sentiment.  Each balloon is a separate embellishment from 'Piece of Cake' and I used the color matching tool to change those colors to match.  The brad is bronze, but even that I was able to use the color matching tool to change it to be a red bronze. I also used the color matching tool on the tag outline...and with the freeform tool to create the sprinkles underneath the frosting on the cupcake!
Thanks for a wonderful challenge Cindy (at MDS Monday)!

Supplies Used:
Paper - Naturals White
Punch - Square (filled w/Feast of Thanks DSP #2); Tag (filled w/yellow - color match and Whisper White)
Embellishment - Brad (Bronze - color matched to Red); Piece of Cake (balloons - cropped and color matched blue and yellow)
Stamp Brush Set - Delightful Dozen (words - cropped and color matched yellow and blue); Party Hearty (cupcake - colored Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue)
Freeform Tool - to color sprinkles blue underneath the frosting using the color matching tool

Now....here's the first card I created with this sketch:
This reminds me of all those times my Dad was fixing the cars or bikes we had over the years...greasing things up and getting messy!

Birthday Milestones

In July 2012, we celebrated my Dad's 70th and my brother's 40th birthday's at Bucci's J. Bella's restaurant.  My sister and I flew in from out-of-town too (no, Deb's family and my Mike did not attend the celebration).  Both my Dad and Dave were completely surprised -- they thought the surprise party was for the other one.
We had a lovely time getting together.

Thanks for looking!

Lazer Xtreme - MDSM005

Still plugging away, trying to complete my 2010 photobook.  I so wanted to get it finished and printed by the end of 2012, but that didn't happen.  SO..... my goal now is to get it done by the end of 2013! lol! Hopefully, it'll be done sooner than Dec 2013, so I can go on to my 2011 photobook! =)

I used MDS Monday's Sketch Challenge (MDSM005) to complete this scrapbook page. I turned it into a two-page spread to fit my needs.  You may view the challenge and all the submissions for the MDS Monday Challenge here: http://mdsmonday.blogspot.com/2013/01/mdsm5-heidis-our-host.html

Owl Celebrate -HSSCC116

The Color Challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments (HSSCC116) is so cute and girly! Although, not all my nieces appreciate these colors....there are a few who LOVE them! So, with Lauren in mind... who is turning 9 this year.... I created this card for her! AND....I got inspiration from pinterest to add hearts to the balloons too.

The card is actually a hybrid.... using My Digital Studio (MDS) for the balloons, ribbon and sentiment. The rest was added after printing.

Beardsley Zoo -SBSC110

Working along on my 2009 scrapbook (I'm still working on November). Almost there!
I don't remember too much about the Beardsley Zoo in Connecticut, but from the looks of these photos it was a chilly day. I do remember it was a very small zoo, though. But.... since we love zoos...we were happy to visit this one on our many travels.

I loosely used a sketch I saw on splitcoaststampers website. You can see the sketch here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/687308?&si=sbsc110

Banner Birthday - SQSC29

I feel it difficult sometimes to create birthday cards for men. In my opinion, there are more stamp sets out there for women than men. So, in trying to create a card for our brother-in-law was challenging.
I saw this challenge online on the Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge (SQSC29). To view all the cards created with this sketch, go here: http://gettincrafty.typepad.com/stampin_queens_sketch_cha/2012/03/sqsc-29-contest.html
