Grove of Patriarchs

We spent a day exploring the Grove of the Patriarchs (in Mt. Rainier National Park). It was so amazing to see all those huge trees. We were definitely hugging trees! =)

I incorporated this MDS Monday sketch (MDSM008), into my first page.  Here's the sketch:
If you'd like to view their blog, and other's pages created by this sketch, click here: MDSM008
The Challenge called for using this sketch along with using the 'Rip Photo Edges' Option.  I used this technique on all the photos in this two-page spread.

I also used the 'Freeform - Add a Brush Layer' option to place color under the leaf stamps.

Thanks for taking a look!

Supplies used:
Background Paper - Woodland Walk DSP #11
Punch - Circle (filled w/Woodland Walk DSP #2 and #8 and Very Vanilla)
Stamp Brush Set - Autumn Harvest (leaves - Garden Green)
Freeform - Add a Brush Layer (Certainly Celery underneath all the leaves)
Font - Herald (Early Espresso)

Mt Rainier

Hmmm... for some reason I forgot to scrapbook July 2010! Yikes! So I'm going back to completing that before I move on to December 2010.
My brother (Dan) and his then girlfriend (Sam) came to vacation with us in the Pacific Northwest.  We've been on several vacations together, and let's just say.... I love my little brother.  Dan is 14 years younger than I am.... so I helped to raise him when he was little.  Anyway, we decided that we would drive to Mt Rainier and hike around the trails there.  Little did we know that there was still mounds of snow on the trails.  It was July!  We did have fun even though we couldn't hike the trails.
Here are two pages, so far, of our trip.

I tried to make the background (on my pages) to resemble snow.  I used the Natural Composition Overlays, colored them Sahara Sand and dropped the opacity to 47%.

Supplies used:  My Digital Studio software, unless otherwise noted

Background - Whisper White
Stamp Brush Set - Natural Composition Overlays #9 (Sahara Sand at 47% opacity)
Embellishments - Walk in the Park II (leaves and leaf border), Baker's Twine (Baja Breeze recolored Island Indigo)
Punch - Square (filled w/ Woodland Walk DSP #4)
Font - Cerebral (Island Indigo)

8th Anniversary in Hawaii - LCTS124

Moving along on my 2009 scrapbook.... I'm working on October!  Mike and I went to Oahu, Hawaii to celebrate our 8th anniversary. My parents went with us on this fun-filled vacation week. We had a wonderful time staying at the JW Marriott Resort and Spa, going to the Polynesian Cultural Center and the Botanical Gardens. Back in 2009, I completed a scrapbook on this vacation, but wanted to include a two-page layout in our 2009 yearly scrapbook too!
I used the sketch on Let's Capture These Sketches (LCTS124)... the projects created with this challenge can be viewed here: http://letscapturethesesketches.blogspot.com/2012/03/sketch-124-reveal.html
