Here is page from our evening with our friends at their cabin in the woods.  If you've been following my blog, you might remember that I created a 12x12 calendar page using those cute little hiking boots... along with a few photos.  I thought to keep some elements from the calendar for the double-page spread and changed many items to give it a different feel.

Penguin PunchArt

I totally LOVE this little guy! Isn't he so cute!  I cannot take credit for this cute design though.  I saw Deborah Wright's penguin card on Pinterest and just had to try and create one for myself with the supplies I had.
Here is Deborah's card:

Thanks Deborah for your inspiration!

I used the Ovals Collection Framelits for the body, and feet; the heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch for the beak; the Flower Frenzy Bigz L Die for the white part of the eyes; the Two-Step Oval punch for the black part of eyes, as well as the white dots for the eyes; and the Flower Fair Framelits for the hair plume.

I used the Northern Flurry TIEF on both the background and the tummy.

Although you may not be able to see it in my photo... I did use Dazzling Details on the edge of the white strip to resemble snow.

Supplies Used:
Stamp Set - Circle of Spring
Ink - Memento
Paper - Soft Sky, Whisper White, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight
Accessories - Big Shot, Northern Flurry TIEF, Ovals Framelits, Flower Fair, Flower Frenzy Bigz L Die, Two-Step Owl Punch, Itty Bitty Accents Punch, dimensionals, Dazzling Details

Petal Sampler

I saw this cute sketch I found on Pinterest that I wanted to try out.  I really struggled with this card, but I love how it turned out.

I had trouble with the flowers.  I first stamped them on white cardstock, but it didn't look right.  Then I stamped the same color ink as the cardstock... still not what I wanted.  Finally, I used darker inks on the colored cardstock... they really stand out now.

I also chose to ink the sentiment in Crumb Cake instead of Tip Top Taupe.  When using the ink... it seems too dark compared to the cardstock.

I'm glad my perseverance paid off... this is such a cute card. I'm sure my friend will love it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamp Sets - Six Sided Sampler, Petite Petals, Peaceful Petals
Ink - Crumb Cake, Delightful Dijon, Tangelo Twist, Island Indigo, Mossy Meadow
Paper - Delightful Dijon, Mossy Meadow, Mossy Meadow DSP, Whisper White, Tip Top Taupe, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz
Accessories - Petite Petals Punch, Scallop Square Punch, Dotted Lace Trim (Delightful Dijon), Organza Ribbon (Whisper White), scissors

Sports Birthday

Our nephew has played many sports throughout the years, so I wanted to create something around the theme of sports.  When I saw Martha Inchley's card... I just had to try to recreate it.
Here is Martha's card:
While, Martha used letter die-cuts and stamps or DSP underneath each letter, I wanted to use my digital software. Thanks Martha for your inspiration!

First, I created my own DSP (Designer Series Paper) within the software using the Stamp Brush Set - Great Sport. For each individual letter, I created a different sport theme paper (well, as you can see... I used the basketball one twice on my card).  Now that the DSP was done, it was just a matter of aligning the letter punches on the paper and filling them with the newly designed DSP.  I made the background a gray color, so that the 'c' and 'r' would stand out from the background.

I then printed the panel on Whisper White cardstock and finished the card by matting it on Basic Black cardstock and then on to the Pumpkin Pie card front.

Thanks for taking a peek.

Supplies Used:
Stamp Brush Set - Great Sport
Font - Arial Black (Basic Black)

Paper - Whisper White, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie

Watercolor Leaves

I wanted to create a masculine card for my father-in-law who had cataract surgery on his eye (yes, he will need his other eye done too).  I believe with the combination of colors and chevron TIEF I nailed it!
It's sometimes hard for me to create masculine cards, but with this card... I had a surprisingly easy go of it.  Maybe it had something to do with the leaves stamp set -- I LOVE leaves.
I achieved the colors on the leaves by coloring them in with markers -- yellow first, then green, orange and finally red.

Thanks for taking a peek!
Supplies Used:
Stamp Sets - Vintage Leaves, Watercolor Wishes
Ink - Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso
Paper - Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Early Espresso
Accessories - Big Shot, Chevron TIEF, Leaflets Framelits, Taffeta Ribbon (Old Olive), dimensionals

With my niece's birthday coming soon, and looking at Pinterest boards for a cute card, when I saw Hannelie Bester's card.... I just had to create something similar for myself.  Her's is so striking with the blue glitter behind her flower.  Thanks Hannelie for your inspiration!  Here is her card:

I used the Flower Fair Framelits to make my flower with 3 layers of flower.  I used my scissors to cut each petal to make the flower more defined too.  I love how it came out!  I hope my niece loves it too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamp sets - Flower Patch, Celebrate Today
Ink - Delightful Dijon, Garden Green

I saw a similar card showcased in the Cardmaker magazine, and just had to create one of my own. It said Rosemary Dennis was the designer.  Her's was a Thanksgiving Day card... so I just changed my sentiment to be for Grandparents' Day (9/13/2015).

Tryon Creek State Park

Today I decided to work on our 2015 photobook with our recent hike to the Tryon Creek State Park. I used the Splitcoaststampers website's September Scraplift Challenge. In this challenge, we were tasked with Scraplifting (using a layout or colors) found on someone else's gallery of scrapbook pages.  This month (September) is scraplifting Annie's Pantry's (Anavon) gallery.  She has many that stand out to me, so I plan on using a few of her layouts.
Here is her layout that I chose to use for my double-page spread:

Lacy Dreams

I used one of my new stamp sets, 'World of Dreams'.  There was only two sprigs of flowers on the stamp, so I added a few more to my card by just inking the sprigs that I needed.  I used the Stampin' Write marker (Mossy Meadow) to draw the rest of the lines to the main branch.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Supplies Used:
Stamp sets - World of Dreams
Ink - Mossy Meadow, Delightful Dijon
Paper - Mossy Meadow, Delightful Dijon, Whisper White

Base Wedding

As I had created their wedding invitations for a lovely couple in Ohio... I wanted to express my congratulations to them on their special day and best wishes for their future together.

Their colors were Navy/Yellow and White, on their invitations as well as the colors in their wedding party, so I decided to stick with those colors for my card.

I created the 'B' in the digital software I have, along with the decorative label design.  Once printed on Whisper White cardstock... I then trimmed around (with scissors) to cut out the label.  Stampin' Up! does have a punch to do this, but I had not purchased it.  I think I did ok with the scissors! =)

Thanks for looking!

Supplies Used:
Font - Majestic (Night of Navy)
Stamp Brush Set - Free Label This (decorative label frame - Night of Navy)
Paper - Whisper White, Delightful Dijon, Night of Navy
Accessories - Dotted Lace Trim (Delightful Dijon); Lacy Brocade TIEF, Big Shot, dimensionals, scissors

Balloon Celebration

Finally started to play with a few of my new stamp sets today.  This one is from 'Celebrate Today'. The 'Balloon Framelits work so well with this set.

I did have a few issues stamping the photopolymer balloon stamp on the cardstock.  I kept getting bubbles - or places that it didn't stamp so well.  After working with them a long while... I realized that you have to make sure that the stamp is on the acrylic block smoothly.  To do this, start with the top of the photopolymer stamp and roll it on the block instead of just placing it straight.  Does that make sense? I hope so.

Here is a photo showing you what I had issues with:
You can see the one in the middle has a circle area under the word 'happy' that is not fully filled in.  I even tried pressing the stamp down on the paper, but that made the words not so clear.  The top balloon was done after I took off the stamp and then rolled it on to the acrylic block. This way you can make sure there are no air bubbles underneath the stamp.
Hope this helps you too!

Thanks for taking a look!
