Celebrate Chocolate

 

The 'Nothings Better Than' stamp set is just perfect for a Valentine's Day card! I wanted to create a box of chocolates.... such a cute idea! I used my 'Nesting Stitched Hearts' dies (Non-SU), to cut out a white heart. I then, stamped several times on the cardstock to create all the chocolates you see here (as you can see I didn't using a masking technique.... just stamped in rows to cover the whole shape. I matted the heart, with an Early Espresso piece of cardstock.

Both the sentiment and the banner are retired stamp sets (Something to Celebrate and Birthday Banners, respectively). The Bunch of Banners is also retired.

The background is an embossing folder 'Stone'. I thought it resembled hardened chocolate when you unwrap it.

Peaceful Love

 

This card features two (well, three if you count the sentiment) stamp sets. The flowers are from the 'So Much Love' set and the leaves are from the 'To A Wild Rose' set. The sentiment is from the 'Peaceful Moments' set.  I suppose I could have just used the flowers and leaves all from the 'So Much Love', but didn't want to fussy cut all the leaves and buds. 

I chose to use the color combo of Pretty Peacock and Pool Party for the flowers. Using the Stampin' Blends makes the colors blend beautifully together. I added a bit of Wink of Stella to the dark areas on each flower to make them sparkle a bit.

Springtime Moments

 

I needed a Sympathy card and wanted to change up the sympathy card that I've used for a while now. The basic background is the same with the Layered Leaves embossing folder. I matted it in Smoky Slate instead of black though.

I used the sentiment from 'Peaceful Moments' set. The butterfly is from the 'Springtime Joy' stamp set. I added a touch of 'Wink of Stella' to make the butterfly sparkle.

Note -- The ribbon is Whisper White Organdy Ribbon. I used the Smoky Slate (light) Stampin' Blends marker to color the ribbon the color that you see here. Now that I know I can change the color to match my cards.... I will be using this technique a lot!

The 'Plaid Tidings' DSP (Designer Series Paper) doesn't have to be just for Christmas. It works well for masculine cards too! 

I wanted to try this crooked technique on a card (I've seen many cards like this). I'm more of a "has to be centered" kind of crafter, so this really is out of my comfort zone. BUT.... I have to say... this card looks great! See... pushing yourself to try different things is a good thing!

Tasteful Blooms

 

When I first used the 'Flowering Blooms' stamp set, I was unsure how the deep sketches of the stamped image would work with my Stampin' Blends. As there is A LOT of shading within the stamp. I played with it with several inks..... Black (in this case - Memento ink) works the best to showcase the shadowing. 

Now, to add a bit of depth and color to the petals, I combined a two colors within each flower to get the results that I wanted. Using the Stampin' Blends markers, I colored one flower with Blackberry Bliss and Flirty Flamingo, one with Misty Moonlight and Seaside Spray, and the last one with Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron. The leaves are all Granny Apple Green.

Florida 2019

 

Still working on our 2019 photobook.... these two pages are dedicated to our trip to Florida. Mike was working in Clearwater, we stayed the night and visited with my Aunt Pat in Sarasota, then visited with Mike's sister Linda and her family in Orlando. While in Clearwater, we celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary with dinner at Blinkers Beachside Restaurant. A whirlwind two weeks packed with fun, sun and sand.

I decided to play with a scrap layout that I found on scrapbook.com. I modified it for an 8.5x11 page instead of a 12x12. A lot of work....and a lot of detail, but it came out beautifully! Here's the page that I found that was my inspiration for my two-page spread.

Continuing with our 2019 photobook.... I'm working on October 2019. Usually, Mike and I take a trip to Hawaii to celebrate our anniversary. Not sure why this year we didn't go... not enough vacation time/ visited our family in CA and FL/ wanted to save some more money first/ Mike had too many projects at work to finish.... in any event, we didn't get to go. My neighbor and I decided to throw a luau and invite another couple from our apartment complex to join us in the fun! My neighbor had a few decorations that we put up (YES..... even the long table runner that we used as a wall decoration!). We played Hawaiian music and Mike made Teriyaki Chicken on the grill. We even had some Hawaiian trivia!
