When I saw Patsy Waggoner's card (right), I wanted to create one for myself using the products I had on hand. Thanks Patsy for your inspiration!

I used the Houndstooth Embossing Folder for the background for my card. I used scissors to cut out the candles and the flames... everything else had a die-cut.

What a great color combination for a masculine card. Also, the colors pair quite well with the 'Rooted In Nature' stamp set and it's coordinating 'Nature's Root' dies.

Christmas Day 2018

Finally, we come to the end of our 2018 photobook with a page on our Christmas Day 2018. 

We set up my Dad's church for the Christmas season complete with the nativity (which my Dad made the manger). On Christmas Day, we went to early morning Mass... then visited my Mom at the Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery in Rittman, OH. We got to see the wreath our family purchased for her grave.

Christmas Eve 2018

 

Enjoying time with family as we celebrated Christmas Eve with the rest of the Schwab family (well, not all could make it this year, so no group photo this year). We have it at my brother, Doug, and his wife's, Karla's, house. Great food! Wonderful Family! and Amazing Games! This year, we decided to play 'Family Feud' -- it was a hit!!! We plan on making it better next year, as Jake (my nephew) will create a computer version to play on their TV. Jake was also the MC of the game!

This page was so easy to put together! The background paper is what you see... no other embellishments adorn these pages! All I needed to do was come up with a photo layout, Title and wording!

Gender Reveal 2018

 

In November, my brother, Dan, and his wife, Tracy, had a "gender reveal" party to announce the sex of their baby. When they cut the cake, the frosting was PINK inside -- thus letting everyone know that a little girl was on here way! Congratulations! Looking forward to welcoming her into our family in March/April 2019.

Twoheys 2018

Before and after our trip to Hawaii in October, we flew to Los Angeles and stayed with Mike's parents for a few days. Broke up that long flight just perfectly AND we got to see family!  We didn't really take pictures, but we did when we went to Twoheys Restaurant. It has been a landmark in the Los Angeles area... and sadly, it will be relocating from the spot it's in now. Great food and sundaes!

Aulani 2018

 

 

For our anniversary this year, we decided to go to the Disney Aulani Resort and Spa in Oahu, HI in October. We also decided to just experience the resort for the entire time we were there -- so no excursions outside the hotel (except for food and buying souvenirs, of course!). The lazy river was one of our favorites -- we spent everyday relaxing in it!

Couldn't fit all my photos on a two-page spread.... so extended it to four pages!

Jelly Making 2018

 

My Dad has a grapevine in his backyard, so every year (well almost every year) he makes grape jelly. This year, my husband got to experience the whole process from picking them to pouring them into jars. A lot of work, but oh so yummy! I made the labels to go on top of the jars too!

Here are the labels I made. I just printed them off on printer paper and cut them out with Circle dies. I cut packing tape with the circle dies too (a size bigger) and was able to tape them directly on each jar top.

San Antonio Aquarium 2018

 

Mike and I had the opportunity to visit San Antonio, TX (him for work...me just tagging along) in September 2018. My best friend's daughter, Haley, lives there. We got together and went to the aquarium there. From the outside, the building doesn't look like much. It's stuck in between businesses on a busy street. BUT... its like a mini zoo inside... with sea animals, reptiles and birds.

I'd like to point out how I achieved the title, as I wanted to make it look like the sign for the aquarium. All it is, is text (Baskerville Old Face). I inserted spaces to accommodate the starfish embellishment... and there it is!

Ohio Flags of Honor 2018

 

In Ohio, there is a traveling tribute to all the fallen Ohio soldiers (since 911) in August 2018. The city of Brunswick hosted this truly meaningful display in 2018. With all the flags on display, it's truly evident how many servicemen and women who died fighting for this country. The names of the Ohioians were read, as a bell rung for each servicemember.

Meadows Lodge 2018

 

The Schwab Family spent 4 days at the Meadows Lodge in southern Ohio (Rockbridge, OH). The Lodge sleeps 26 guests, so it accommodated everyone in our family (along with their significant others too!). I created an album solely dedicated to this trip, but wanted to include a two-page spread in this 2018 photobook to showcase that we did this in 2018!

In July 2018, we hosted the Hynes Family Reunion at one of the MetroParks here in Cleveland. This would be my Mother's side of the family. We had great weather and wonderful memories. Baby Raccoons 2018

 

For many that know me, I have loved raccoons since I was a teenager. I devoured books at the library that had anything to do with raccoons. So.... you can imagine my delight when we noticed three baby raccoons foraging for food in our backyard. So adorably cute! They were eating the berries off the shrubbery in the back and the bird seed in the feeders behind the other buildings. We got some great shots of them as we were able to get up close too!

PurpleStride Cleveland 2018

 

In June 2018 was the annual PurpleStride Walk/Run to benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at the Cleveland MetroParks Zoo. We, along with a few of my family members, participated in the walk and two volunteered their time to help with the event. We walk to support those that have been diagnosed and are still fighting and we remember those we have lost to this devastating disease (My Mom).

We drive past this walled in Horticultural Park (in Strongsville, OH) every weekend, so we finally got the chance to see within the walls. What spectacular beauty! I guess we went at a great time as things were blooming all around us. The walkways are rugged, but we definitely enjoyed our outing. We'll stop by again!

American Veteran Traveling Tribute 2018

 

In June 2018, the city of Parma, Ohio displayed this 80% scale replica of the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial that's on display in Washington DC. What a great idea for those who cannot travel to DC to see the original! We have seen the original and now we've seen this traveling tribute. Such an awe inspiring and sacred work of art. While we walked around this wall, someone was reading the names of the Ohioans that are listed on this wall - along with a bell being rung for each. So moving!

Not sure that these photos or scrapbook page does this justice... you need to see in person!

Lake Apopka 2018

 

Mike's sister took us to Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive (near Orlando). WOW! What a cool experience! The road is 11 miles long and filled with marshlands where cranes, turtles, birds and (of  course!) alligators roam. We even got to see a baby alligator sitting in a puddle in the middle of the road.
