Banded Stone

 

My Great Aunt is 99 today! What a blessing she is to us! Happy Birthday Aunt Arleen!

I decided to create a card around the stamp set 'Band Together'. I used the coordinating 'Detailed Bands' dies too.

The color combo I chose was Seaside Spray, So Saffron and Soft Sea Foam. I colored in the images using the dark and light shades of the Stampin' Blends markers.

I added a touch of 'Wink of Stella' on the petals of the flowers to make them sparkle just like the ribbon.

As for the flowers, there is a die shape for the full bloom.... I had to use the scissors to cut out the partial bloom.

Oh how I loved Yvonne Spikman's card.... I loved it so much -- I created almost the exact copy of hers! Thanks Yvonne....stunning card!

I used Shimmer White cardstock on the card base and also for the seashells. As an added hint of sparkle... I colored them in using 'Wink of Stella'.

Seaside Party

 

I really liked the way Akiko stamped the images from the 'Seaside View' stamp set onto a square piece of paper, so I decided to copy that from that card. I finished the card a different way to make it my own. Thanks Akiko for your inspiration!

I used a watercolor brush (AquaPainter) for the sand, sea and sky, but the rest is all Stampin' Blends markers. I added a 'Wink of Stella' to the sea to make it sparkle.

The stitched edge around the focal piece is from the 'Stitched Nested Labels' dies, but it's the straight line. YES.... I die-cut 4 times to complete the square.

Not sure if you can see it, but I used a 'Sailors Knot' on the twine on the sentiment piece.

Furry Friends

 

For our God-daughter and her husband who recently lost their beloved pet, Boris. 

I actually just got finished designing a different "loss of pet' card for my brother and sister-in-law, so wanted to create a whole new design for my God-daughter.

I designed this in My Memories Suite digital software, and then printed it on Basic White cardstock and finished matting it the traditional way.

Such a great card made by Gail Ellis! Thanks for your inspiration! The 'Tranquil' dies create a beautiful backdrop for the flowers and sentiments from the 'Tranquil Thoughts' stamp set. 

To create the background, I die-cut the corner leaf die twice. Then, with scissors, cut a portion of the bottom (small side) to create a border when placed on top of each other. I adhered it to a Soft Sea Foam cardstock and then with a Basic Black cardstock base.

I used the 'Tasteful Labels' dies  with the sentiment from 'Tranquil Thoughts'. Here's a tip to add more depth to the 'Tasteful Labels' dies. After die-cutting the sentiment. With the paper still in the die-cut shape, flip it over and run a stylus over the inside edge. This will create a bump in the cardstock. I've taken some photos of the before and after.

Before, with just running the die-cut through the Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine.

Using the stylus, glide it around the inner edge of the die-cut shape.

The finished product..... see the bumped up design along the decorative edges! Pretty cool!

Pawprint Sorrow

 

My brother and sister-in-law's doggie went to heaven today (well, 3/31). It's so hard to say goodbye to a furry friend. Lya was such a gentle soul... she got along with everyone.

I made this card using My Memories Suite digital software. I saw a heart shaped pawprint card on Pinterest and I fell in love with it.  Each pawprint is individual, so I just placed the prints around in a heart shape. I added the banner... which was plain. Then added a text box with the word 'Lya' and made it look like it was on the banner.

When I saw Claire's card on Pinterest, I just knew I had to create own of my own. I just love the layout! Now, as I didn't have the gold nor the floral stamp.... I changed it to a stamp I did have. Thanks Claire for your lovely inspiration!

Some Joy

 

Some Easter cards created for my family and friends. I chose the main colors of Soft Sea Foam, Highland Heather, Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight and Petal Pink.

The images were stamped using the masking technique. I stamped the basket image first. Then, stamped the basket on a scrap piece of paper and cut it out. I placed the scrap basket piece over my stamped basket on my cardstock -- then stamped the bunny.

I colored in the images using Stampin' Blends markers. The bunny is Crumb Cake and the basket is Soft Suede. To make the shadow (to ground the image), I colored a bit of Ivory under the basket and used the Color Lifter to give it a softer look.

I added 'Wink of Stella to the flowers on the bunny and also to the eggs in the basket to give it some shine.

It was a bit hard to get good coloring on my stamps.... to soften the look. Ink the stamp, stamp on a scrap piece of paper, then  stamp on the cardstock. I did that with the water and mountains. I added 'Wink of Stella' to the sun and top of the mountains to give it some sparkle.

Not sure who posted this lovely creation that I found on Pinterest (it was just a photo... and no website or name attached to it). As far as I can tell... this card was a 5x7 card. I designed mine to be 4.25x5.5 card. Therefore, I had to make some changes to dies and placements.

The sentiment is from the retired 'Number of Years' stamp set. The '2' die is from the 'Little Numbers' dies. The coloring on the ladybugs are Poppy Parade, Smoky Slate and Ivory. The flower is colored in using Granny Apple Green and Soft Sea Foam for the leaves/stem and Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight for the flower. I added a 'Wink of Stella' to the flower petals and the '2' die to make it sparkle.

The Stamp Set 'Friends Are Like Seashells", the coordinating dies "Seaside Seashells' and the embossing folder "Seashells" offer many different cards options! It's best to get all 3 as they coordinate so well together. You'd be missing out if you didn't.

You may see a bit of the shimmer on the background of my card. Yes, I did paint the whole background with my Wink of Stella to make it shimmer as in the ocean. I also added Wink of Stella to the die cut seashells.

The sentiment is edged in the 'Stitched with Whimsy'  dies. I did fussy cut with my scissors the edge around the die-cut (I used the actual die as my guide to cut around it).

My Twin is a wine enthusiast, so when I bought the 'Sip Sip Hooray' stamp set..... it was with her in mind, along with all my nieces and nephews who will eventually turn 21. Personally, I am not a wine drinker, but to each there own.

When I saw Caroline's cards on Pinterest, I just knew I had to create one for my twin.  My sister prefers red wine.... so it was fitting to use the 'Merry Merlot' cardstock.

I heat embossed with gold embossing powder the sentiment and the wine glass.

Kitty Patrick

 

I'm not big on sending cards for St. Patrick's Day, but I so wanted to create a shamrock out of hearts. My littlest niece loves cards, so the perfect recipient for my card! She is into any and all animals, so chose a cute kitty to be on the front with the shamrock.

The shamrock is made by die-cutting 8 hearts. I used the Nested Stitched Hearts (non-SU). Each heart is folded in half, so that when two are put together it makes a heart and stands out from the paper. To make the adhering process easier.... I die-cut a small circle underneath to stick the hearts on (can't be seen here). The stem for the shamrock is just cut with scissors free-hand.
