Changing Wonder

 

I really loved the 'Changing Leaves' stamp set on the dark background from Stampin' Up!, so I had to create one for myself for my brother-in-law.

I decided not to have a sprayed background and used the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder instead. I changed the sentiment for the one in 'Wildlife Wonder' stamp set.

Scripted Beauty

 

I tend to gravitate to the same SU colors that I've always used. So... with this card... I wanted to try using Lemon Lolly on a card. With that... I was able to also utilize the Boho Blue and Lemon Lime Twist. Such a pretty color combination... perfect for a May card.

For the background piece, I stamped Craft White ink on the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder to create a white-washed effect on the "bark".

I used Wink of Stella on the petals to make them shine.

Grapevine Party

 

Such a great design by Jane Proffitt that I needed to create one for myself.

My Dad has several grapevines and we usually make homemade grape jelly for family and friends in August/September (when the grapes are ripe!). My Dad's grapevine looks like this right now (well, I'm creating this in May... so it looks like this... with tiny buds of grapes... no real purple to see here yet!). So this is perfect for my Dad's grapevine! Thanks Jane for your inspiration.

Perfect Seashells

 

I almost forgot my Brother-in-law's birthday. Not sure how I did that as I tend to look at my physical calendar and my iphone calendar to make sure I got everyone within the month that I'm making cards. So... this is a rushed card, but it turned out so well. I can say that I'm getting better at coloring in images... not perfect yet, but getting there.

You can't see it in this photo, but the background piece, shells and seaweed all have a 'Wink of Stella' on them to make them shine.

Forever Thoughts

I wasn't really too interested in obtaining the new 'Forever Fern' stamp set from Stampin' Up!. However, as soon as I was able to see all the wonderful cards created with this set.... I knew I had to purchase it! Since this set comes with a coordinating die-cut 'Forever Flourishing', cards a a cinch to make.

I paired the stamp set (and coordinating dies) with the 'Pinewood Planks' embossing folder and the sentiment from 'Sending You Thoughts'. Oh wait.... I used the 'Tasteful Labels' dies to for the sentiment too. This card came together easily and beautifully!

Moments In Nature

I need a lot of masculine cards for July birthdays, so the 'Rooted In Nature' stamp set comes in handy. It's a very woodsy... masculine set. Although, I have made several feminine cards with the set too.

I combined this stamp set with the sentiment from 'Peaceful Moments' set and the DSP from 'Nature's Poem'.

Planks in the Air

My cousin just moved into their new home... such an exciting time for them. I used an oldie but goodie stamp set 'Up in the Air' which was a hostess set back in 2012 (I think). I paired it with the 'Pinewood Planks' embossing folder. Kinda looks like wood on a house - right? 

I colored in the image using Stampin' Blends markers. Cherry Cobbler, Balmy Blue and Old Olive.

Pinewood Stems

The month of July is always difficult for me to come up with so many different masculine cards... I have 8 family members to create a card for. I want them all to reflect them, as well as, for them to be different in color and layout. Hopefully I've accomplished that so far this month!

With this card, I chose to pair the 'Pinewood' Embossing Folder with the 'Special Reason' stamp set. I decided to change up the frame. Instead of using the frame from the 'Stylish Stems' dies (which coordinates with the 'Special Reason stamp set), I chose to utilize the 'Bottles & Bubbles' dies. I know it's a different use for them, but I believe it works well with my design.

Gorgeous Nature

Getting the 'Rooted in Nature' stamp set and it's coordinating dies 'Nature's Root' had me a bit intimidated. Within the dies, there are embossed dies. I first needed to buy the Embossing Mats from SU before taking a stab at these.

The instructions are pretty straight forward. When die-cutting... place the dies downward. When embossing with the dies... place the dies upward. Now, I had trouble with the paper staying within the die after cutting the shape out. Which it says to die-cut first, then emboss. Well, it wasn't working for me, as the paper would slip. So I embossed the image first, then die-cut them out. Perfect leaves!

I love the finished result! I'll need to practice using the embossing dies more though!
