Birthday Cat

 

Lesley's card (found on Pinterest) was such a cute card and I so wanted to recreate it for my niece.

Unfortunately, I misplaced my 'Biggest Wish' stamp set (couldn't find it anywhere!). So found an older set 'Big On Birthdays' that worked perfectly for the card I wanted!

I added a Wink of Stella to the hearts to make them shine.

Sailing Tide

 

I saw a similar card where the oval cut around the lighthouse, so I thought I'd try my hand at it. I die-cut a portion of the oval.... then, with scissors, snipped the rest close to the lighthouse.

I incorporated two different stamp sets together to achieve the sailing scene I wanted. 'High Tide was used with 'Sailing Home'. I colored in the images using Stampin' Blends markers.

Plaid Birthdays

 

The 'Plaid Tidings' DSP (Designer Series Paper) doesn't have to be just for Christmas. It works well for masculine cards too! 

I wanted to try this crooked technique on a card (I've seen many cards like this). I'm more of a "has to be centered" kind of crafter, so this really is out of my comfort zone. BUT.... I have to say... this card looks great! See... pushing yourself to try different things is a good thing!

Big Reason

Wow! Its sometimes hard for me to come up with a lot of masculine cards all in one month. July is not an easy month for me as I have 9 masculine cards to create and 4 feminine cards. Its a huge birthday month for our family.

While looking at individual stamps within a set... you have to think outside the norm for the use of the set. I used just the leaf stamp within the 'Special Reason' stamp set and only two leaf die-cuts from the 'Stylish Stems' coordinating framelits.

The sentiment is from the 'Big On Birthdays' stamp set.
I am in awe with this card. Its simple yet very sophisticated! Not sure if its the colors I used or the layout, but I'm so happy how it came together.

Big on Swirls

Such a cute and versatile stamp set! This is the 'Swirly Bird' stamp set... along with the sentiment from 'Big on Birthdays' stamp set.

I chose the colors red, white and blue for two reasons. One my "nephew" loves the Indians and his birthday is in July! What a great color combo to work with!

Big on Autumn

Such a simple yet handsomely done card (if I do say so myself! LOL!).

This card was so easy to create. I used two different Designer Series Papers from 'Painted Autumn' and paired it with Early Espresso and Very Vanilla.

Big Birthday Blast

 

I saw Marilyn's card on Pinterest, and I just had to create one for myself. I did change it up a bit to make it my own, but thought I'd give credit to Marilyn.... as it was from her inspiration that I made my card. Thanks Marilyn!

I used the colors Lemon Lime Twist and Dapper Denim along with Whisper White.

The stamp sets I used are Banner Blast (retired) and Big on Birthdays.

Birthday Wings

I paired two different stamp sets for this card. 'Watercolor Wings' for the butterfly and 'Big On Birthdays' for the sentiment w/flowers.

The 'Watercolor Wings' stamp set is a triple-time stamp set, meaning that you have to stamp several layers to achieve the finished stamped image. For this card, I chose to use Daffodil Delight for the base of my butterfly. Then, with the wing edges, I used Pumpkin Pie ink. Finally for the last layer, I chose Memento ink to finish off my Monarch butterfly.  I used the Butterflies Thinlits to die-cut the butterfly to make it pop up from the panel.

Nail It Big

I saw Juana Ambida's card on Pinterest and wanted to create one for myself... I used red instead of her yellow. Thanks Juana for your cute card!

I used an AquaPainter to color in the tools with Smoky Slate and Real Red. For the ruler, I cut a strip of Silver Foil the width of the die-cut (1/2"), and than ran it through the Big Shot instead of cutting it after I ran it through the Big Shot. The edge looked better doing it that way in the finished product.

I used the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment from the 'Big on Birthdays' stamp set... I just stamped them separately to get them on top of each other rather than in a straight line.

Birthday Candles

 

I saw the card on the right on Pinterest and pinned it to one of the boards I have "Cards I Like". Now, I've had this pinned for quite a long time... and usually I pin cards to use as inspiration for my own. Yet with this card... I didn't have a candle stamp. So... I created my own candles for this card. I think I did pretty good!

I paired my candles with the sentiment from 'Big On Birthdays' stamp set.

Nailed Birthdays

This set is such a wonderful set to use for my Dad.  He LOVES to work with tools, and he is handy to have around to fix things around the house, car, etc. I love my Dad!

I first stamped (with Staz-on Black ink) the tools on the silver foil and die-cut those out. I then stamped the same tools on Delightful Dijon and die-cut those out. Using scissors, I carefully cut the handles out of the Dijon and adhered them to the silver foil.

I believe this is my new favorite color combo....Peekaboo Peach, Old Olive and Whisper White. Now Olive Olive is my all time favorite color....so I'm sure any color that pairs with it will be fantastic! =)

For the ribbon detail, I used 2 different ribbons and just laid one on top the other.
