I really liked the look and feel of Su Mohr's card. I changed mine up a bit to make it my own, but wanted to give credit to Su! Thanks Su!

I chose the colors Misty Moonlight, Old Olive and Early Espresso. I stamped the stump on Crumb Cake and made that my base card too.

Rooted in Paradise

 

I know this stamp set is retired, but needed a good masculine birthday card for my Uncle. This set paired with the 'Tranquil Textures' DSP made creating this card a breeze. The added touch of the stitched ribbon finished the card perfectly (IMO... LOL).

The sentiment I used is a new one.... 'Paradise Palms'. Such a lovely set too... and would be perfect for another masculine birthday card.

Rooted Thoughts

 

I struggle a lot with masculine cards, as I tend to love working with floral and animal stamps more. With the help of Pinterest, and the cards I find on my Stampin' Connection website.... I can usually tweak a similar card and make it my own. With this card, I did just that. Found a card using the stump stamp with the two leaf stamps next to it (although, the placement is not the same as mine).  I added the sentiment on top. The rest of the card/layout is my own.

Moments In Nature

I need a lot of masculine cards for July birthdays, so the 'Rooted In Nature' stamp set comes in handy. It's a very woodsy... masculine set. Although, I have made several feminine cards with the set too.

I combined this stamp set with the sentiment from 'Peaceful Moments' set and the DSP from 'Nature's Poem'.

Boy In Nature

A little backstory first... my Uncle (and GodFather) is a skydiver. I've sent him birthday (and father's day) cards for a while now. Each year, he wonders why I don't have a skydiving stamp yet! Well, I found that I did have a skydiving one.... from a while ago (so, yes, this set is retired!). It's an image from the 'Boys Will Be Boys' stamp set.
I found that if I paired it with the 'Rooted In Nature' set, it's perfect for that skydiver in the family! Whew! At least this year I won't be hearing him complain! LOL!

For the trees on the bottom, I stamped them in Pear Pizzazz. I used the Bronze Stampin' Blends marker to color over the trunk parts that were in Pear Pizzazz.

Rooted Light

I decided to have some fun with the evergreen tree stamps within in the 'Rooted In Nature' stamp set. I inked the stamps in Mossy Meadow and stamped them on Old Olive cardstock. I then used the fine-tip glue pen to add glue to some of the branches. Then, with the White Emboss Powder, I sprinkled it on and then used the Heat Tool. Because I was using glue.... it did bubble up when heated. When cool, it does go down, but still has that raised look of regular embossing. Cool...snow covered trees!

Seaside Root

When I saw Christy Velasquez' card (right), I just loved the colors and the simplicity of it -- I had to make one for myself (well, for my Uncle). 

I tend to go dark (rather than light) when I do sponging... and this card reflects my heavy inking on the sponge daubers. I think it turned out very well. Now, on Christy's card, she added a sprinkle of white... I chose not to do this on my card.

Gorgeous Nature

Getting the 'Rooted in Nature' stamp set and it's coordinating dies 'Nature's Root' had me a bit intimidated. Within the dies, there are embossed dies. I first needed to buy the Embossing Mats from SU before taking a stab at these.

The instructions are pretty straight forward. When die-cutting... place the dies downward. When embossing with the dies... place the dies upward. Now, I had trouble with the paper staying within the die after cutting the shape out. Which it says to die-cut first, then emboss. Well, it wasn't working for me, as the paper would slip. So I embossed the image first, then die-cut them out. Perfect leaves!

I love the finished result! I'll need to practice using the embossing dies more though!

Tide Pals

I used several different stamp sets to achieve this card. 'Postcard Pals' is, of course, the main stamp set with the pelican and the top sentiment.  The other sentiment is from 'Rooted In Nature'. Finally, I used one of the stamps within 'High Tide' to create the sand that the pelican is sitting on.

I used the colors Daffodil Delight, Soft Sea Foam, Smoky Slate, Pool Party and Crumb Cake to color in the image.

Healing Roots

I needed a masculine Get Well card for my Uncle who is recovering after gall bladder/stone removal surgery. I wanted to use the 'Healing Hugs' sentiment, but wasn't too sure about the other stamps for a masculine feel. So, I paired the sentiments with the 'Rooted in Nature' stamp set... and the Layered Leaves' DTIEF.

Seasonal Nature

I found a card like this on Pinterest, but there was no ID on it... so I cannot give credit to the person who designed this card.

For my card, I used the 2 evergreen stamps within the 'Rooted In Nature' stamp set to create my forest. Then, I used the "ground" stamp within the 'Season Like Christmas' stamp set to "ground" my forest trees. I used the Real Red marker to make the ornaments on the tree.  I finished the trees by using 'Wink Of Stella' to make the trees sparkle (even though it may be hard to see in this photo).  The sentiment is from the 'Many Merry Messages' stamp set.
