Elegant Poppy

My brother and his wife will be celebrating their 27th wedding anniversary! Congratulations!
I wanted to give them an elegant card, but I was so frustrated with my outcomes. I made two before scrapping them and starting over.

I chose to utilize the 'Poppy Moments' dies. In which, a die-cut outline is placed over the die-cut shape of a different color. Here, I chose a monochromatic card of Sahara Sand and Basic White. A tip I've learn is to use the adhesive sheets when working with really intricate dies like this one.
(Place the adhesive sheet on your cardstock before running it through the Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine, then adhere to the die-cut shape after peeling off the second backing.)

I used 'Wink of Stella on the flower petals to make them shine.

Thanks for taking a closer look!

Magnolia Rose

What a simple yet very elegant card! Thanks to Kylie Bertucci's card (on the right)... I was able to create one of my own. I changed the cardstock to Petal Pink instead of black. Wow... the difference in the look of the card now is striking! I may have to create own exactly like Kylie's with the black background.

Thanks for taking a closer look!

Supplies Used:
Stamp Set - Rose Wonder (sentiment)
Ink - Mossy Meadow
Paper - Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow, Magnolia Lane DSP
Accessories - Die-Cut/Emboss Machine, Banners Dies, Black Twine

Garden Wonder

This is an oldie-but-a-goody stamp. It's a single stamp called 'From the Garden'. Back when this stamp came out... we didn't have blender pens from SU, so their wasn't much option for coloring the image in.  I decided to pull this stamp out and play with my Stampin' Blends with them.

I used the colors Mint Macaron and Petal Pink giving the flower a soft look.

Thanks for dropping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamp Sets - From the Garden, Rose Wonder
Ink - Memento, Stampin' Blends (Mint Macaron, Petal Pink)

Lattice Wonder

I saw this beautiful card (below) from Karen B (of The Bald Dragonfly Designs) on Pinterest. So, I thought to try my hand at it. Wow... was it difficult, but I'm happy with the results I have here.
Here is Karen's lovely card....

Now, I'm really not sure what type of colored pencils she used. Probably blend-able ones. Mine were not, so you are able to see many of my pencil strokes. Now... how to get rid of those! With that in mind, I chose to paint some 'Wink of Stella' over top of the flowers. Brillant! It sparkles when you turn it in the light.

I used Clear Emboss powder to set the image on the Crumb Cake cardstock.

Thanks for taking a closer look!

Supplies Used:
Stamp Sets - Lovely Lattice, Rose Wonder
Ink - Versamark, Soft Suede
Paper - Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry

I was inspired by Narelle Farrugia's card (on the right). I changed the colors to make it my own, but the design is all Narelle's! Thanks Narelle!

I used the Wood Textures DSP along with the Color Theory DSP for the background. The leaves are from the Petals & More Thinlits.  I "colored" in the flower petals with dark Daffodil Delight from the Stampin' Blends.

Thanks for stopping by!

Special Bird

There are many different wood patterns in the Wood Textures DSP (Designer Series Paper) that make each card you make unique. I thought to pair the white -washed wood paper with Red and Crumb to create a holiday feel. Here's a get-well card for my brother who is having surgery on his hip during the winter months here in Ohio. Here's hoping that he heals quickly and is back on his feet soon.

I used several different stamp sets here.... the sentiment is from 'Rose Wonder'; the leaves are from 'Special Reason' and the bird is from 'Swirly Bird'. (I did use scissors to cut the bird out... I was surprised it didn't have a coordinating thinlit).

Thanks for stopping by!

Sea Wonder

My niece is tomboy and loves animals, so I knew that I couldn't give her a card that was too girly/frilly. With her love of animals.... I chose the jellyfish, as it's one of my favs! I added a bow to make the card less masculine.

Thanks for taking a peek.

Season Wonder

I found the card on the right on the Splitcoaststampers website. It was posted by "Broom". Her card inspired me to create one for myself. I wanted to capture the colors of cherry blossoms, so I used Powder Pink along with Crumb Cake ink for the flowers and branches.

Thanks for looking!

Botanical Wonder

Working with the Rose Garden Thinlits to try to use them in a different way.... I came up with only using the negative piece from the leave thinlit to create my card.  As you can see I used the leaf thinlit twice.

I used Botanical Gardens DSP for the front piece and the leaf cutout as well.

Paisley Wonder

I wanted to use the supplies I had to create a birthday card for my Aunt. She will be turning 70! I didn't want to showcase her age... but I felt that the Paisley Petals DSP (Designer Series Paper --  retired) fit the occasion.

I cut out a portion of the DSP for the flower on the frame. I used dimensionals to make the flower pop up from the frame.

I paired the DSP with the Rose Wonder stamp 'Happy Birthday' -- It was a great fit.

Thanks for looking!

You Wonder

As I get older.... I find that I'm in need of more and more of these cards. Life... you are here but a moment in time -- it's what you do during that time, to bring joy to other's, that makes life so much more enjoyable and happy. Take a moment to feel the blessings of each and every one who has touched your life (big or small) today!

In this card, I made the stems on the lilies longer by turning the stamp upside down and stamping just the stems on the bottom portion of the card. I then attached the ribbon to hide the parts that don't quite match up!

I used the AquaPainter to add subtle color to the flowers.

Thanks for stopping by!

Rose Blossom

Upon seeing Sharon Burkert's card on Pinterest.... I wanted to try something similar with the stamps that I had on hand. While I think mine looks good.... I really like the detail in the flowers/leaves on Sharon's stamp that she used for the background piece better than my own.

I created my cards as a 'Thank You' for all the generous people who donated to PurpleStride2016 5K Walk/Run -- which is supporting the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Every little bit helps those fighting this deathly disease.... I hope they do find a cure for this soon.

Thanks so much for taking a peek!

Garden Wonder

Happy Mother's Day!  My Mom passed away 2 years ago, and she loved roses. In memory of her -- and for "other" Mom's in my life (my Husband's Mom, my Godmother, my Grandma and Mike's second Mom) these are for you!

I used the Rose Garden Thinlits to cut out the black rose outline in the center of the black cardstock. I had a bit of trouble running the thinlit through my Big Shot...as it didn't cut parts of the paper. I used the Precision Plate the second time around.... and that helped some, but it still wasn't cutting all of it. So, I finally placed another sheet of paper (shim) on top of the die...and it cut just fine from there on out. Third time was the charm! ;)

Behind the cut out flower I used different papers from the Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-Bration (SAB) Catalog.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamp Set - Rose Wonder

Wonder Gardens

I've been trying to utilize my pack of Botanical Gardens DSP (Designer Series Paper), and I'm so glad I decided to play with it.  I felt this paper (in particular) was very masculine, so wanted to create a card for our Uncle. Pairing it with the Cajun Craze cardstock... was perfect! I did fiddle with the card base color, but kept coming back to black. Hope it doesn't look too dark of a card.

I used the Deco Labels Framelits to die-cut the sentiment.

Thanks for taking a look!

Wonderful Roses

I've seen so many cards with this fabulous layout that I wanted to try my hand at making a few.
I will give credit to the first person whose cards I fell in love with -- although, I'm sure there are many many designers that have made this lovely layout.
Here are Melanie Smith's cards:
Such a beautiful display! Thanks for your inspiration Melanie!

Purple Rose

My husband and I are participating in the PurpleStride2016 Walk on June 11th -- we are helping to raise money (and awareness) for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Most people know that we care deeply for this cause, as my mother passed away from this disease in February 2014.

I wanted to create some thank-you cards for the people that have donated to our page. When I found Lou Kitzelman's card on Pinterest.... I knew that I had to create something similar. I wanted to use the color of purple.... as that is the color for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness, and roses are my mother's favorite flower.  Thanks Lou!

This card was a bit harder than I thought it would be. I started by cutting the base 5.5x4.25 in Elegant Eggplant, and then die-cutting the rose piece in that same color. (I did not adhere the die-cut rose piece to the base until after the white piece was finished). I then cut a 5.25x4 in Whisper White. On the White cardstock, I stamped the rose stamp. I used my AquaPainter to color in the rose and leaves.

After matting the White cardstock (elegant eggplant), I laid them together, so that I could place the die-cut rose piece in the correct position when the card is closed. I realized that the back of the card would show the edges of the die-cut piece on the back, so I placed another 5.5x4.25 piece of Eggplant cardstock on the back (hiding it).

I finished the white insert part with eggplant ribbon and the 'Thank You' sentiment.

I know....loads of layers on this card.  As you can see from my photo.... I attached a white piece of cardstock on the back of the insert too -- for my note of thanks and where I could sign our names.

Thanks for taking a peek!
